Our story

It all began with a dream.

I

Barcelona, 2003

The beginning of a journey

My life was in order. Home, work, routine. Everything seemed in place… but inside me something knew it wasn't enough, that a purpose was missing.

One night I dreamt of an indigenous woman. It wasn't just any dream. It was a call. She hinted I had to follow a different path, left me a clear clue and I followed it.

I woke up with a certainty logic couldn't explain: I couldn't ignore it.

I left Barcelona, my home, my job and part of my life.

viaje

The journey that brought me back to myself

I travelled to Brazil looking for answers. For six months I wandered through places, people and silences. And what I found was something simpler and deeper: I found myself. I recovered the missing piece of my life's puzzle.

I came back to Catalonia transformed. I knew I couldn't go back to my former life. I wanted to live differently. Closer to the earth. Closer to natural cycles. Closer to what matters.

I looked for communities that shared this vision, but I didn't find exactly what I longed for.

Then I remembered something that has always been with me…

"If you can't find what you love, create it."

Change begins with oneself.

The farmhouse waiting for me

A good friend told me about a 12th-century farmhouse near Castellterçol. It had been uninhabited for many years. I went to see it.

It was a sleeping house in the middle of a lush forest. Mountains over 830 metres tall surrounded it. Ancient paths wound between the trees. Life was everywhere… but waiting to beat again.

I lit the first fire in that chimney that had been cold for decades.

And I felt something very deep: the house was waking up… and so was I.

In that instant I understood I hadn't arrived there by chance, but as a guardian. Guardian of the land, of memory and of the cycles.

I called her La Encantada. Because the forest is enchanting. And because the house has a soul.

Today — More than 23 years later

La Encantada is family.
Community.
Continuous learning.

A School of Life. A space for Reconnection with Being.

Today I live here with Lucas, my partner. We are caretakers of this land. We tend our agroecological gardens, share our space with animals, and even peacocks roam freely across the property. We rebuild and recover the spaces that were once inhabited.

Our daughter Maya was born and grew up here. Today she is an active part of the project, in charge of communication and gathering plants from the forest.

Volunteers come with the seasons. They learn old crafts and knowledge. They share time. They seek personal growth and a more honest relationship with the land… and with themselves.

This is the place from which everything I create is born.

II — How our cosmetics were born

It began almost without realising

From the moment I arrived at the forest I began to experiment. I walked the paths, gathered plants, made extracts, tried macerations. I spent hours with old books, notebooks and forgotten formulas. I brewed my own potions. I knew plants were medicine. I always did; my father, my mother and my grandmother taught me so.

But the real push came with the pregnancy and birth of Maya, my daughter.

When I held her in my arms and started looking at conventional care products for her, something inside me rebelled. I read the labels carefully: artificial ingredients, aggressive preservatives, names impossible to pronounce.

And I felt an absolute clarity.

I wouldn't put anything on my daughter's skin that I couldn't eat.

“Put on your skin what you can eat.”

It wasn't a trend. It wasn't a fashion. It was a decision of coherence.

I began looking for real alternatives to conventional cosmetics. I studied natural cosmetics, soap-making, phytoextracts, emulsions, distillates, Mediterranean herbalism and natural remedies. I trained, I researched on my own with old, forgotten books, and I experimented. I listened to the sound of the plants: I knew the plants that grow around your home are the ones you need. I spoke with the "remeieres" grandmothers of our area, guardians of ancestral formulas passed down through generations, and I learned several remedies I still make today.

I wanted something very specific: truly natural, organic cosmetics. Made with my hands. With ingredients I understood. With living plants. Without unnecessary chemicals.

I set out that when opening my beauty bag, every product would be natural, organic and coherent with my way of life. And little by little, it was.

First came medicinal ointments for my family. Then for friends and neighbours. Then the circle began to grow. Skin got better. People came back. Trust expanded.

Fairs, markets and shops followed. No big campaigns. No artifice. Just word of mouth, tribe and visible results.

Today La Encantada's natural organic cosmetics reach homes across Spain and beyond. But they are still born the same way: listening to the plants, feeling life, remembering the origins, returning to the earth.

III — The process

How we do it

Remembering the origins.
Returning to the earth.
Listening to the plants.
Feeling life.

Our natural organic cosmetics are not mass-produced. They are made with time.

como_destilamos

We distill our plants

The way it used to be done. Fire transforms the plant gently and awakens its deepest essence. For me, that is true alchemy: when the elements meet and something alive happens.

como_maceramos

We macerate patiently

Herbs in first cold-pressed organic oils, respecting the rhythm of every plant and the phases of the moon. Because nature isn't in a hurry… and neither are we.

como_cultivamos

We grow and harvest

Flowers and plants from our agroecological gardens, and we forage others from the surrounding forest. Always in an artisanal way, respectful of the environment. We take only what's needed. With gratitude.

Pure hydrosols, not water

In our formulations, we use pure hydrolats instead of water. They are not merely a base ingredient: they retain the plant's memory and provide real active properties to the skin.

"If it isn't necessary, we don't add it."

No harmful chemicals. No unnecessary artificial preservatives. No synthetic colourings. No artificial fragrances.

There are plants. There are organic oils. There is conscious formulation. There is experience. There are hands.

We make creams, ointments, solid shampoos, toothpastes and products for family care. Each jar takes time. Each batch is small. Each formula is born here.

Our products aren't tested on animals — they're tested on our friends.

In every product there is intention, care and coherence. Because when you consciously choose what you put on your skin, something changes inside.

IV — Our community

An invisible net returning to earth

I deeply believe in small projects born from a real commitment to the land.

That is why we work with producers who act responsibly, who know the origin of every raw material and who put quality before quantity. People who, like us, understand that the land is not a resource to exploit but a living organism to care for.

We select our ingredients following ethical, organic and excellence criteria. We build relationships based on friendship, trust, transparency and long-term sustainability. We are not looking for volume — we are looking for coherence and alliance.

We work exclusively with:

  • Certified organic plant oils
  • Pure chemotyped essential oils
  • Natural butters
  • Live hydrosols
  • Plant extracts
  • Natural clays

Whenever possible we prioritise local raw materials, supporting local economies, reducing environmental impact and strengthening conscious networks.

But our community doesn't end there. At La Encantada we regenerate soil, grow without chemicals, respect natural cycles and give back to the land more than we take. We practise a living agriculture, where every plant is part of a wider balance.

We open the doors of the estate to people who want to learn and reconnect. Volunteers come with the seasons to help in the garden, with natural building, plant gathering and animal care. Here we share old knowledge, traditional crafts and a more conscious way of inhabiting the world.

We also share knowledge about natural organic cosmetics, because we believe that understanding what we put on our skin is an act of personal sovereignty.

We are part of the El Poblet SCCL Cooperative because we believe in collective work and in the networks that strengthen projects with real values.

For me, making natural organic cosmetics is not only about producing goods. It's about holding a human and natural ecosystem where health, trust and everyday spirituality can coexist.

And every person who chooses La Encantada is not just a customer. They are an active part of this invisible network that is remembering how to return to the earth — a gentle change that begins on the skin and reaches into life.

V — Who am I?

Mireia Berdún

I am Mireia Berdún, a 50-year-old Aquarian woman. Guardian of La Encantada, a retreat house and school of life.

I am a mother, songwriter and medicine woman. I keep alive the memory of the plants and traditional remedies of this land — knowledge I have been remembering and honouring throughout my path.

I look after altars and spaces devoted to the Sacred Feminine, the central axis of my spiritual path and my way of life.

For a long time I thought I had to fit into a life that didn't feel mine. Until I understood that coherence is not negotiable.

More than twenty years ago I decided to return to the earth. Not as an escape, but as a conscious choice. Since then I live in an old farmhouse in the middle of the forest, learning every day from natural cycles, fire, plants and silence. I understood that I wasn't the one choosing the place. The place was transforming me.

I learned to observe, to wait, and to respect timing.

I believe in natural organic cosmetics as an act of daily coherence, and from that coherence I bring to life a range crafted with awareness and respect.

I believe skin doesn't need artifice — it needs respect.

La Encantada is not a brand I created — it is the place that transformed me. And every product I craft is an extension of that transformation.

If you've made it this far, perhaps you also feel you want to live with more coherence.

"I only put in the plants,
the fire and the time.
The rest… life does it."
